RSSHome was created to simply the reading of RSS and Atom feeds from mobile devices like Microsoft SmartPhone, Sony P800/P900, Handspring, Palm, PPC, etc. as well as WAP enabled mobiles and desktop browsers.
To minimize data traffic to the mobile device, a proxy server is used behind the scenes to filter, verify and catalog all RSS feeds content. The proxy server then sends the minimal
amount of data to the mobile device so the device can display the RSS feeds. On the Microsoft SmartPhone platform, you may filter feeds by category as well as reduce data
traffic considerably by turning off the short description tag of the RSS feed and only retrieving it when there is an interest in the specific feed. This helps reduce any
airtime charges that may be applied to network data use.
Carriers
RSSHome was built with carrier distribution in mind. If a carrier chooses to distribute the RSSHome screen plugin for Microsoft SmartPhone or allow subscription access thru the carrier
to the WAP or web-based service (supported by RSSHome), the carrier can control which feeds are pre-populated to the device. This allows great flexibility in branding as well as placement of
premier content providers. RSSHome.com is highly instrumented to support data access logging and detailed billing data. A typical carrier will log in to the branded carrier administration
site on RSSHome and setup any profiles for carrier subscribers to access. For example, if you are "XYC Communications", you might log in to the carrier admin site on RSSHome and
setup a default profile for your subscribers to receive automatically when they download or access the RSSHome software for the first time. Carrier administrators can run access reports
as well as enable and disable individual users from the RSSHome service. For further information, please contact info@rsshome.com. Here is a sample screen from the carrier administration
